Northwest Arkansas has a multitude of opportunities for water sports. Area residents enjoy fishing, boating, canoeing
and water-skiing. Good locations are Beaver
Lake, Lake Wedington, and Lake Fayetteville. Beaver Lake, with 450 miles of shoreline, is
known for excellent bass fishing, and it is also the water supply for most of Northwest
Arkansas. |

For river fun with canoes, rafts and kayaks Northwest Arkansas offers a wide variety of
navigable rivers and streams. The beautiful Buffalo National Rivers length of 135
miles offers both rapids for experienced floaters and smooth stretches for novices. Other
nearby river options for floating and fishing include the Mulberry, Illinois, Kings, White
and Elk Rivers. |

Devils Den State Park is an excellent location for mountain biking, camping,
spelunking and hiking. Local outfitters and
guides are also available to provide information on hiking the Ozark Highlands Trail
for experienced backpackers. |

Northwest Arkansas abounds in outlets for the sports fan, either as a participant or a
spectator- check out the exciting athletic events at the University of Arkansas. You may plan on watching, but you wont be in
your seat long. The
Arkansas Razorbacks Athletic Program boasts of over 40 total national championships and 30
SEC Championships. |

The mens basketball team is notorious for fast action, Hawg Ball playing
style that won the Razorbacks the 1994 NCAA Championship title. Their home - Bud Walton Arena- known as the
Basketball Palace of Mid-America, has a capacity of over 19 thousand seats.
Head Track Coach John McConnell has won the most national championships than any one in
the history of NCAA athletics, and was recognized as male Coach of the Year by the United
States Track Coaches Association. Athletic Facilities include a new track complex,
