Also receiving the Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award was Dr. Barbara Shadden (MA
92) Rehabilitation, Human Resources and Communication Disorders. According to the
event program, Shaddens field of expertise involves the study of aging. She has
served in such posts as the co-director of the Office for Studies on Aging, and
Co-director of the Wally Cordes Teaching & Faculty Support Center. Dr. Shadden told
the attendees that she had a wonderful journey, and that she was getting
an award for doing exactly what you love to do, and I cant imagine getting an award
for that, and she thanks us all for that. |

Dr. Kimberly G. Smith (MS 75) is a member of the Biological Sciences, |
|
|
|
| J. William Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences faculty. He was the
third and final University faculty member recognized that evening. Smith is the Chairman
of the Department of Biological Sciences. He is an accomplished university researcher and
also a 1997 Arkansas Alumni Award recipient (for teaching). White even stated that Smith
has brought global recognition to the U of A. Dr. White went on, nationally he
is seen as a fix it man for |

| being an editor of Auk Magazine, and that merits the awards for
the service he has given to the U of A. |

|
After the three faculty awards were bestowed and as the evening wore on and began to
slowly wind to a nostalgic close it was time to confer the remaining awards slated to be
distributed that evening to three stratospheric University Alumni. The Citation of
Distinguished Alumni, according to the events invitation, recognizes exceptional
professional and personal achievement and extraordinary distinction in a chosen
field. |

Sue Walk Burnett (BA 68) is the Founder and President of Burnett Staffing
Specialists in Houston, Texas. According to the event program, DiversityBusiness.com
recognizes Burnett Staffing Specialists as Texas 5th Top Woman-Owned |
|
|
|
| Business. Kenny Gibbs (BSBA 85) President of the Arkansas Alumni
Association Board of Directors said that Burnett Staffing is an $80 Million
Company. During her acceptance of the award, Burnett stated that the U of A had one
of the top football teams in the country when she graduated in 1968. She also elaborated
that being Chi Omega was one of her favorite college experiences. Before concluding her
